Dacia cars are produced across the world. The UK versions are built in Pitesti, Romania, the nation where the brand was founded, as well as in Tangiers, Morocco.

Dacia is pronounced da-chee-uh. The name stems from the ancient kingdom of Dacia, which is now Romania, where the brand was founded.

All of Dacia’s engines are borrowed from Renault, as Groupe Renault has owned Dacia since 1999. Dacia’s petrol and diesel engines can also be found in popular Renault models like the Clio and Captur.

Bi Fuel is a Dacia’s dual-fuel powertrain option. It’s an engine that runs liquid petroleum gas (LPG) or petrol, reducing fuel costs, lowering emissions and improving performance. You can switch over from petrol to LPG, or vice versa, manually or automatically when one is empty. There are dedicated gauges for each fuel type, and filling up the LPG tank takes just two minutes.

The engine was an option across Europe for several years before being launched in the UK in 2020. The technology is available across the Duster and Sandero range.

There are three petrol or hybrid Dacia models available with automatic transmission – the Sandero, the Duster and the Jogger. You also won’t need to do any of those pesky manual gear changes in the new Spring EV.
